Giovanni Battista Piranesi (4 October 1720 – 9 November 1778)

Giovanni Piranesi, Appian Way 1756.

Giovanni Battista Piranesi was an Italian architect, archaeologist and 
publisher of prints depicting his own fantasy world of architecture.
His drawings were not feasible in reality due to technical difficulties, so 
despite the huge number of drawings he constructed few buildings, which is 
why his name is associated with the term "Paper Architecture".
