Lawrence Alma-Tadema, The Roses of Heliogabalus 1888.
The painting shows an episode (of dubious credibility) from the life of
the
young Roman emperor Elagabalus (Heliogabalus). The story tells of
a feast
at which the emperor ordered roses to be scattered from the
ceiling

suffocated.
